Theodore Roosevelt once said “comparison is the thief of joy.”
Talk about speaking deep truth.
Nothing shrinks my bubble and sends me spiralling into shame faster than comparison.
And the most direct path I’ve found out of shame and back to joy is gratitude.
The practice of speaking my shame out loud to another and consciously reframing the “I wish I had…” into “I’m so grateful I have…” and the “I should be…” into “I am so glad I am…” guides me back to joy every time.
